Workshop with people with disabilities to improve Social Work Practice
Thursday 8th February 2018
The workshop is being co-run between BASW and “Shaping Our Lives” The aim of the workshop is to develop ideas from participants about how we can change the way we, as disabled adults and social workers, relate to each other so that we can achieve more together. Half the participants in the workshop will be people who have a disability, (or be family or friends carers) and half will be social workers.
The focus of the workshop will be to develop ideas to take forward the Charter and Position Statement that Shaping Our Lives and BASW co-produced last year https://www.basw.co.uk/resource/?id=5909
The day will run from10.30 to 3.30 and is being facilitated by an external facilitator, who herself has a disability.
This is an exciting opportunity for BASW members to get involved in an important area of practice. To participate as a social worker you must be a practicing and working with adults who have disabilities. (Physical disabilities, learning disabilities or mental health difficulties).
Places are limited so in the event of being over-subscribed BASW will reserve the right to allocate places to social workers who best fit the needs of the workshop.
Booking will close on January 10th
