Worcestershire Branch Seminar

Working with Gypsies, Roma and Travellers (GRT)

6.00pm - 6.30pm - Networking (refreshments will be provided)

6.30pm - 8.30pm - Seminar

Gypsies, Roma and Travellers (GRT) make up significant minorities across the UK, including Worcestershire.  However, little is known about the distinctive cultures within the GRT spectrum, qualifying and CPD courses give passing mentions but there is no core knowledge base within the social work profession about culturally sensitive work with such communities.

Expected learning outcomes

The session will:

  • Explore the myths and realities surrounding GRT communities.
  • Discuss best practice with adults and children within communities where prejudice and discrimination remains ever present.
  • Identify the social work role when working with Gypsies, Roma and Travellers.
