Still We Rise - World Social Work Day

Wednesday 20th March 2024 12:00 - 13:00

World Social Work Day celebrates social workers and the inspirational work they do. Social workers have always been agents of change, in the lives of the people they support and in society as a whole.

This year we want to both celebrate social workers who are actively campaigning for positive change in their communities, workplaces and across society, and inspire social workers to become engaged in activism. Our panel consists of social workers who have brought about effective change locally and nationally. This includes Jill Keegan, Partnerships Manager for the Scottish Community Alliance, Ronnie Harris, Community Organiser/President of Sacred Roots, Caroline MacDonald, SASW Committee Vice Chair and John McGowan, General Secretary of SWU.  They’ll explain why they believe activism is important, their inspiration for continuing their work and the different avenues open to social workers who want to become involved in facilitating change.
