SASW Skills & Knowledge : Supervision – your lifeline in social work practice

This session will focus on providing supervision for NQSWs. From October supporting NQSWs will become mandatory in Scotland. What does this mean for supervision?

Building on our previous supervision training, this session will review peer/group supervision and reflective individual supervision elements. This will be a stand-alone training and prior attendance at previous sessions is not required.  We will also look at the structure of supervision for NQSWs as set out by the SSSC:

  • NQSW wellbeing
  • Professional development and learning
  • Reflective and reflexive case discussion
  • Systemic and management issues

From 3rd June, continuous professional learning (CPL) will need to be evidenced against the core learning elements and therefore we will use this session to familiarise ourselves with those.

This training will be relevant for all who are intending to supervise NQSWs from October onwards. It can also be useful for anyone supervising early career social workers or supervising social workers who have previously worked/studied overseas.
