One Parent Families Practice Guide

12th June 2024 - 12:30 - 13:30

This joint webinar is hosted by One Parent Families Scotland, Social Work Scotland and Scottish Association of Social Work.

One Parent Families Scotland was commissioned by The Promise Scotland to research what happens to family finances when a child enters the care system in Scotland and how this affects family reunification. The resulting report, Poverty-proofing for families in or on the edges of care, which is based on interviews with parents and practitioners, contains a series of recommendations to mitigate against the negative consequences for families when a child is taken into care. We have worked with practitioners and parents to create a practical guide for practitioners. The guide explains the financial impact on families and is designed to be used by practitioners to improve outcomes when working with families in or on the edges of care. The webinar will include a short presentation from Sarah Stewart and Satwat Rehman on OPFS’ work to produce the guide.
