Independent social work is very diverse and the contracted rates often range as a reflection of these services and requirements of clients.

This consultation is open to all self-employed social workers including employed colleagues who offer private social work services. Experienced and individuals new to independent practice are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Objectives of the consultation

  • Understand more on what the current rates of independent social work are.
  • Analyse how these rates vary between different services offered.
  • Link trends such as geographical differences.
  • Learn how rates may or may not have changed since 2010.
  • Explore where the opportunities and challenges are in setting fair fees.
  • Identify awareness and campaigning opportunities.
  • Publish a report on the findings.

We appreciate discussing financial matters is commercially sensitive and the information shared will be stored and analysed within BASW only. Any summaries shared with third parties will be anonymised. Find out more on BASW's Privacy Policy here
