SWU and BASW England response to the 2022 Social Work England consultation on amendments to rules, electronic communication, and remote hearings

SWU, BASW Advice and Representation Service, and BASW England consulted members for views on amendments proposed by Social Work England to rules on electronic communication and remote hearings

This response was completed by the Social Workers Union (SWU) in conjunction with the British Association of Social Workers (BASW) England for the Social Work England (SWE) 2022 consultation on amendments to rules, electronic communication, and remote hearings. SWU works in partnership with BASW England to protect social work professionals in their workplace. Having a professional association and trade union working together is important for the social work profession. Therefore, this response should be considered as the official views of both organisations.

BASW England and SWU welcome SWE’s consultation on this topic as almost all SWE hearings for both fitness to practice and registration appeals have been held remotely since March 2020.
