MHO Forum Annual Study Conference 2016
Human Rights & Humanity - Maintaining the People Focus in Mental Health Social Work
The SASW MHO Forum Annual Study Conference (Human Rights & Humanity - Maintaining the People Focus in Mental Health Social Work) on 26 October 2016 in Perth was attended by 117 delegates.
SASW (part of BASW UK) was delighted to welcome delegates to the Annual MHO Forum Study Day, which was made possible by a “Collaborative” consisting of Learning Network West, The Mental Welfare Commission, The Scottish Social Services Council, Glasgow Caledonian University, Strathclyde University, Social Work Scotland and SASW.
The objective was to offer an interactive day of learning, talking to each other, collecting information, exchanging ideas, as well as an investigation of challenges and suggestions on how we can find ways forward.
There was input from people with lived experience of mental health difficulties. The programme timetable included lots of time for discussion and reflection, and opportunities to ask questions.
The intended outcome was for participants to leave the day with updated information, renewed enthusiasm, and with suggestions which they were able take back to their areas of work and share with local colleagues. Most of all, that delegates left with a positive reminder of why they became an MHO in the first place!
