Government Consultation on National Assessment and Accreditation System

what do you think about the Government Consultation on National Assessment and Accreditation System?

The National Assessment and Accreditation System Consultation aims to consider:

  • a future career pathway for child and family social workers, and
  • the place of a national assessment and accreditation system in that pathway.

BASW England believes that this consultation will have far reaching implications, not just for children and families social workers, but for all social workers in England and those in training. We are, therefore, inviting all members to share your views with us, irrespective of which setting you work in.

We have compiled our own series of questions about the survey which we would like you to answer. Please could we ask you to spare a few minutes to complete our survey now

Finally, we would also like to draw members’ attention to part 2 of the Children and Social Work Bill,  which sets out the government’s proposals for Social Work England, the new regulator replacing the HCPC in 2018. Part 2 of the Bill links directly with accreditation in terms of the setting of professional standards at both pre- and post-qualifying levels for social workers, proposals for improvement standards for social workers, and standards of education and training. This information is covered in clauses 47-49 of the Bill.

The consultation was launched on the 20 December 2016 and runs until 14 March 2017.

Please could you send your responses to NAAS@basw.co.uk by 7 March 2017.

It is vital that the government hears the voice of the profession when making such important changes to career progression.
