Social Workers Union to sponsor 'Poetry for Social Work' event

The online event, which takes place on 4 December, arises from a call for poems that explore the meaning of social work and compassion in order to promote the self-care and wellbeing of social workers in Scotland. The organisers selected poetry that provides comfort, support, challenge, and inspiration to social workers in Scotland.

The organisers said: "Poetry is a wonderful way to communicate complex issues, and to find space for deep reflection."

John McGowan, SWU General Secretary, said: "We are delighted to sponsor the Poetry for Social Work event and to celebrate the importance of social work and social workers."
