Additional funding for Frontline programme

Government awards £45m to fast track social work education scheme

The Department for Education today announced that the Frontline organisation has won a further £45m of funding for its fast track children and families social work programme.

The funding announced will be used to educate and train 900 new children’s social workers in 2020 and 2021. The social work charity has trained over 1000 participants since 2013.

BASW will issue further comment and analysis on the implications of this announcement soon.

As the professional association for social workers and social work, BASW will continue to work across the sector to promote approaches to sustainable, effective and ethical social work education, and to ensure all social workers are supported by and can benefit from their professional association.
