Universal Credit Awareness Training, Banbridge

This 2.5 hour training session will take place in each of the five Health and Social Care Trusts.  It is designed for social workers in all fields of care.

The first part of the session will focus on the implications of welfare reform and will cover issues such as:

  • The two-child limit
  • The benefit cap
  • Section 5 and implications for social workers
  • Cuts to disability benefit

The second part of the session will provide a basic overview of Universal Credit, the new working age benefit which will replace six-working age ‘legacy’ benefits (Jobseekers Allowance, Employment Support Allowance, Income Support, Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit). It will cover:

  • Aims and principles of UC
  • Who can claim
  • Conditionality and possible sanctions

Attendance is worth 6 PiP Credits.
