Supporting your learning & training in an interactive world - Cohort 1

Part of BASW's Taught Skills Development Programme

Target Group:

This course is aimed at those who are beginners at using MS Teams and find it difficult to engage in online training because they struggle with the technology. It is not suitable for Trainers or those who are already competent with the basic features of MS Teams and wish to improve their skills. For those interested in enhancing their ability to lead training – please sign-up for our Creative Trainer Course – A six week Train the Trainers course looking at facilitating adult learning in the digital world.

Course Outline:

This short introductory beginner’s session will support delegates on how to be able to fully engage with future BASW training by helping participants to be confident in the world of online training – particularly within MS Teams. Participants will learn how to swap between guest accounts and the accounts of their organisation (if they have one), to ‘move between rooms’, share their screen, download training resources, input on a whiteboard, and troubleshoot common areas of problems in taking part in online learning.

Improving your skills and confidence in mastering the tech, will enable you to focus fully on the content of future courses….for those of you who don’t feel it will ever match up to face-to-face training, we hope to change your mind!

Learning Methods:

This training is delivered using an online interactive classroom approach and all delegates will be expected to take part to ensure an effective adult learning experience. Using whiteboards and breakout rooms, a combination of learning methods will be used throughout the course, including trainer presentation and activities.
Learning Outcomes:
This course will provide participants with the following learning outcomes:
• To have the opportunity to experience all the capabilities of online training.
• To learn the basic IT skills needed to fully participate in online learning.
• To build confidence in taking part in online learning.
• To Myth-bust and challenge any negative views of online learning

Resources Required:

All delegates will need a laptop with a functioning Microphone and Camera to allow effective participation and a strong stable internet connection. Where possible delegates should be using the Microsoft Teams Desktop App and have ensured it is fully updated. Laptops should have an up-to-date Browser such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

Delegates are required to join the Team at least 1 working day BEFORE the training. We host the training to ensure we can use all the features of our interactive approach. Please note – for health and safety reasons it is not appropriate to access these courses from a mobile phone. Whilst tablets can be used; delegates will find a laptop is easier as functionality on tablets is still limited.
