Self-Directed Support: fit for the future?

Scotland’s Self-Directed Support (SDS) legislation provides a powerful yet underutilised framework for choice and control for the person using services and professional. It has a huge impact on the way many of us work, with the range of experiences mixed and varied - and we want to hear about them. What are your aspirations for it? What are your concerns? Is it an approach that fits with your values and ethics?

The Self-directed Support Project Team, funded by Scottish Government and hosted by Social Work Scotland are developing a National SDS Framework to reduce the inconsistencies of its implementation across Scotland. The proposal is now open for comments and we want to make sure that the voice and experience of social workers is truly reflected in this SDS Framework.

We will be holding a one off discussion event on the 2nd of December between 4:00 and 5:30pm, to talk and reflect on SDS.

The event will help us to capture your voice in our feedback.

If you would like to attend, please contact karin.heber@basw.co.uk expressing your interest before 5pm on the 1st of December. Joining details for the Microsoft Teams platform will be circulated nearer the time.
