Merseyside Branch Meeting Workshop
'The Rich Maintenance of the Human Experience of Poverty’
BASW Merseyside branch is delighted to host an event focusing on social work practice and the impact of poverty and austerity.
"We have to be authentic, brave and collaborative”
The evening will include a workshop delivered by Dr Donna Peach titled ‘The Rich Maintenance of the Human Experience of Poverty’ alongside an introduction to BASW’s anti-poverty practice guidance.
Come along to network with local social workers, develop further understanding around poverty and austerity, and learn about new practice guidance.
- Workshop Overview
The oppressive economic policies that serve those with capitalist power impact on the well-being, opportunity and survival of those without influence. Additionally, the strength and vibrancy of those who are poor is often disguised, which further undermines their humanity, and rich experience of being in the world. Social work has the ethics and value base to help bridge the void between rich and poor, but if we are to co-produce meaningful change we have to be authentic, brave and collaborative.
