Live Stream: An inquiry into the proposals to integrate social care with the NHS

An inquiry led by Barbara Keeley MP as co-chair of the APPG (All-Party Parliamentary Group) for Social Work looking into integration of the health and care system will have its second oral evidence session. We’ll be hearing from social workers and BASW representatives and further witnesses *to be confirmed.
What is the inquiry about?
The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Social Work co-chaired by Barbara Keeley MP and David Simmonds MP has launched an inquiry into the proposals to integrate social care with the NHS.
Through the proposed Health and Care Bill, the Government are seeking to further integrate health and care by making integrated care systems statutory. Ahead of this Bill, the inquiry seeks to specifically the impact of these proposals on social work.
This inquiry will consider:
- The impact of the proposals on social work service users
- The impact of the proposals on social work
- Examples/best practice of integration
- Role of CQC inspections
- Challenges and obstacles

When is the final oral evidence session taking place for the inquiry?
There will be one further evidence session taking place on the 15th September 2021 via Facebook Live Stream from 3pm.
What is the evidence used for?
The evidence collected through this inquiry will contribute towards the formation of a report by the APPG which will be shared with the Department for Health and Social Care.
