Human Trafficking and Modern-Day Slavery

Brief summary:

This Training will provide an overview of the legislation and national guidance on the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and Human Trafficking.

The National Crime Agency has recently reported that nearly 7,000 potential victims were reported in 2018. This represents an increase of more than 80% in two years; and the numbers of children referred increased by 48%.

It is evident that there is a need to recognise and understand how vulnerable children and adults are exploited for sex, labour, criminal activity and financial benefit by perpetrators.

At the end of this event participants will be able to:

  • Understand the implications of the Modern-Day Slavery Act 2015 and Human Trafficking.
  • Have knowledge of the vulnerabilities of children and adults as part of Modern-Day Slavery and Human Trafficking.
  • Know how to recognise sings of exploitation and where to report.

Who should attend?

Anyone who works with children and young people or who wants a better understanding of Human Trafficking and Modern-Day Slavery.

The training will enable practitioners to participate in reflective workshop learning sessions to develop their understanding of the key issues and learn from other professionals.

On completion, participants will be provided with a certificate of attendance which will include the CPD hours achieved.
