BASW England West Yorkshire Branch Meeting with Claire Webster

Mental Capacity Act and the Implications for Social Work of the Liberty Protection Safeguards

You are invited to join us for the next West Yorkshire Branch meeting where we will be joined by Claire Webster, a social worker & Mental Capacity Act lead for North Yorkshire County Council. She is also currently leading on the implementation of the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS).

Claire is a nationally recognised speaker in mental capacity having recently presented at the National Mental Capacity Forum. She has extensive experience of the Court of Protection (COP) and will take us on a whistle stop tour of some of the most notable recent COP judgements and what that means for social work practice.

If you are not yet  familiar with the LPS then this will also be a good opportunity to get to know it a little better as it will soon have implications for many aspects of social care across children’s and adults teams across England and Wales.
