Emily Melaniphy, Senior Social Worker

I nominated Emily because I feel she is a kind and caring person with a nurturing personality. Emily has supported me through some hard times as my senior and has valued me as a person and giving me the space to grow and build my confidence. She has been non-judgmental and has allowed me to value my self-worth. Emily has given me the tools to produce better quality work. Through using her own experiences as a social worker Emily has helped me have a deeper understanding of a person’s needs and make links between theory and certain behaviours a client may be showing.

Emily always makes me feel safe and shows respect for confidentiality, if she does need to discuss anything we have discussed further she will always let me know first. Emily is always approachable and always has time to help assist and guide. Emily is open and honest and if she feels something could be done in a different way she will express this in a respectful way.

Emily does not shy away from speaking her mind or voicing an opinion and has helped me find my voice to be able to do the same. This in turn helps when advocating for clients. So not only is Emily a great social worker and very knowledgeable she is also able to help others grow and develop their skills and is a great senior.
