Briefing for the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, Secretary of State for Education, on the emerging findings of the OCC’s Inquiry into Child Sexual Exploitation in Gangs and Groups, with a special focus on children in care
Following the convictions of nine men for group-associated child sexual exploitation (CSE) in Rochdale, the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, Secretary of State for Education, asked the Office of the Children’s Commissioner (OCC) to produce an accelerated report on the emerging findings of its Inquiry into Child Sexual Exploitation in Gangs and Groups (CSEGG). In particular, the Secretary of State requested that the OCC consider whether any recommendations are required to better protect children in care1 and those living in residential units from child sexual exploitation.
This document has been produced as a result of that request. It is intended to provide the Secretary of State with:
• Information on the emerging findings from the CSEGG Inquiry
• Recommendations for protecting children in care from CSE.
