When admin matters
The supposedly basic administrative task of recording details relating to service users is a much kicked political football, often cited as inadequate in safeguarding failures but equally criticised by those opposed to excessive bureaucracy in social work. Liz O’Reilly draws on these themes to highlight how recording is taken insufficiently seriously and to press the case for better training and dedicated time for the task.
