Marking Holocaust Memorial Day 2013 In your workplace

The Holocaust and subsequent genocides didn’t take place overnight. They took place when racism and prejudice had spread across societies – in classrooms, community spaces and workplaces. Whilst the actual perpetrators in such appalling crimes are often the minority, it was the majority who turned their backs and abandoned the persecuted to their fate. Today, we in the UK are not at risk of genocide, but we can all play our part in remembering the victims of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides and making sure that others around us are not subjected to hatred and discrimination.

On or around 27 January 2013, thousands of activities across the UK will mark Holocaust Memorial Day. This booklet shows how you can get involved in your workplace and create an activity that is rewarding and meaningful for you and your colleagues. Rather than raising money, we’re asking you to give a small amount of your time to come together to reflect on the millions who have been murdered in the past, and the challenge we have today to end racism and discrimination.
