What the Winterbourne View Hospital Serious Case Review Does or Cannot Tell Us.
The report was written as a response to the Serious Case Review on Winterbourne View. The particular focus of this report is regarding concerns as to why the review appears to have been ‘constrained’ in enabling closer examination, analysis & comment as to the conduct of professionals in undertaking their statutory duties for patients detained at the hospital under sections of the Mental Health Act 1983 [Amended 2007]. BASW will also be responding separately to other aspects of the SCR.
