Child victims in contact with the criminal justice system in Ireland
UK wide prevalence research has highlighted that abuse during childhood is an all too common experience, with one in four 18–24 year olds (25.3%) reporting severe maltreatment during childhood and one in seven (14.5%) having been severely maltreated by a parent or guardian
