February 2011 - BASW England Consultation Response: Tackling Child Poverty and Improving Life Chances
BASW – The College of Social Work recognises the need to implement a childpoverty strategy and hopes to see evidence of resources being provided tomeet the proposals of this strategy in this time of severe Local Authority cutsand down turn in economic opportunities. Recognition that the lack of financialmeans are not the sole reason for poverty is welcomed but our members areconcerned about the link between opportunities and finance and the need tocontinue to increase financial levels toensure children can be provided with basic necessities.
