March 2011 - BASW England Consultation Response to Building A Safe and Confident Future: One Year on
BASW/CoSW welcomes the work of the SWRB which recognises and supports the central role of the profession in improving practice, although we recognise that there is a real challenge to engage and re engage social workers in taking ownership of their profession, particularly after years of other people owning us. There is also the great challenge of engaging employers, who will have to play a vital role in helping implement the SWRB recommendations.
BASW/CoSW held a seminar in January to discuss the One Year On report and the questions in the report. In addition a straw poll of members views was taken. Bill McKitterick a member of the Employer Standards Working Group and the Education Working Group has had a major input into this feedback report.
