Safeguarding Children Research Initiative

The Safeguarding Children Research Initiative is a programme of research studies on child abuse and neglect jointly funded by the Department of Health and the Department for Education. The studies were commissioned as part of the government response to the inquiry following the death of Victoria Climbié. The purpose is to provide a stronger evidence base for the development of policy and practice to improve the protection of children in England.

Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults

Do you work with vulnerable adults? Would you like training to help you develop your safeguarding policy, procedures and good practice? This certified programme is delivered over a day and a half and will raise awareness of vulnerability in adulthood, reporting procedures, how to assess and manage risk, code of behaviour and good practice in recruitment and management of staff and volunteers. The course also highlights the eight minimum standards of practice contained in Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults - A Shared Responsibility and supports organisations in developing or reviewing their safeguarding policy.

Scotland's 2011 Census

Scotland’s census is the official count of every person and household, which takes place every 10 years.We asked people to fill in a census questionnaire to reflect their circumstances on 27 March 2011.The answers people give to the census questions will help shape Scotland’s future. The results are used to produce anonymised (with personal details removed) statistics that help decide how billions of pounds of taxes will be spent every year on services everyone needs, such as education, transport and healthcare.
