Joint University Council

The JUC was founded in 1918 to promote the interests of the universities in the fields of Public Administration and Social Policy. In the 1970s, Social Work education was added to its brief. Today, the JUC represents the vast majority of British higher education institutions teaching and researching in these three fields.

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation is an endowed charity that funds a large, UK-wide research and development programme. We seek to understand the root causes of social problems, to identify ways of overcoming them, and to show how social needs can be met in practice.

The Social Work Education Committee (SWEC) represents higher education institutions to government departments and other organisations across the four nations of the United Kingdom. It represents UK Schools of Social Work on the international scene.

The Learning Disability Coalition represents 15 learning disability organisations, and over 160 supporter organisations who have come together to form one group with one voice. We believe that people with a learning disability have the right to live independent lives, with the support that they need. We want to make sure that the Government provides enough money so that people with a learning disability have the same choices and chances as everyone else.
