The National Skills Academy for Social Care is for everyone committed to excellent adult social care in England. It was created by social care employers to transform the quality of leadership, management, training, development, and commissioning.

Northern Ireland Social Care Council

As the regulatory body for the social care workforce in Northern Ireland, we aim to increase the protection of those using social care services, their carers and the public by improving and regulating standards of conduct, training and practice in the social care workforce.

Office for National Statistics

Our main responsibilities as the Executive Office of the UK Statistics Authority include the collection, compilation, analysis and dissemination of a range of economic, social and demographic statistics relating to the United Kingdom that serve the public good and meet our legal obligations (both domestic and international); the provision of statistical leadership and methodological advice for the benefit of UK official statistics; representing the UK in the international arena; and the development and maintenance of definitions, methodologies, and classifications of statistics.

Personal Social Sciences Research Unit

The PSSRU has branches in three UK universities, carrying out independent research aimed at improving the equity and efficiency of social and health care.

Practice Learning Qualifications website

This website includes Learning Objects designed primarily to support the learning of students or candidates undertaking the Practice Learning Qualification (PLQ) or the Practice Learning Qualification (Social Services) (PLQ(SS)), though they can also be used by anyone wishing to increase their understanding of learning in the workplace.

Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority

The Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA) is the independent health and social care regulatory body for Northern Ireland, and forms an integral part of the new health and social care structures.  In its work RQIA encourages continuous improvement in the quality of these services through a programme of inspections and reviews.

Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health is responsible for training and examining paediatricians in the UK. The College has over 13,500 members in the UK and abroad and sets standards for professional and postgraduate medical education.

Safeguarding Children Research Initiative

The Safeguarding Children Research Initiative is a programme of research studies on child abuse and neglect jointly funded by the Department of Health and the Department for Education. The studies were commissioned as part of the government response to the inquiry following the death of Victoria Climbié. The purpose is to provide a stronger evidence base for the development of policy and practice to improve the protection of children in England.

Scottish Social Services Council

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is responsible for registering people who work in social services and regulating their education and training.
