Burns, Bruises and Breaks: Recognizing Signs of Abuse

Join students and social workers from across the region for the opportunity to hear from Dr Rajani Kalepu, a Paediatric Consultant and Safeguarding Lead from the Royal Derby Hospital. 

This seminar will focus on the signs and symptoms of abuse, elaborating on different type of fractures and factitious disorder. It will explore the signs and symptoms of abuse, including an in-depth exploration of various types of fractures and a detailed look at factitious disorder.

  • Participants will learn to recognise the often-subtle signs of physical and emotional abuse and gain insights into different fractures, understanding what they could signify in an abuse context. The complexities of factitious disorder will be explored from identification to intervention.
  • The seminar will feature a Q&A session.
  • This seminar is ideal for social worker, healthcare professionals, educators, and anyone committed to safeguarding community welfare, providing essential knowledge and tools to better serve and protect those at risk.

This event will support networking and practitioner wellbeing.

It is a hybrid branch event open to students, social workers, BASW members and non-members studying, living, or working in the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire area.
