This event will explore the issue of denial in a range of contexts but all within the child protection system. In the morning, the focus will be on where denial within organisations puts children and young people at greater risk.

CHAIR: Sharon Girling

MORNING SESSION: Public Concern at Work: on unacceptable practices within organisations. Jim Wild: When the whistle blows, what happens? Professor Peter Beresford: Empowering service-users for greater organisational accountability.

AFTERNOON SESSION: Internationallyacknowledged sexual abuse consultant Dr Joe O’Sullivan will spend the whole afternoon exploring interview skills where adults who are suspected of abuse are ‘in denial’. He will use DVD recordings to highlight how to approach these difficult situations.
