Governance

As a fully independent organisation, BASW is governed by Council – a Board of Directors who are all BASW members and social workers. Council members are elected each year at our Annual General Meeting and their work in overseeing the governance and strategic direction of the Association is supported by a Finance and Human Resources Committee, a Policy, Ethics and Human Rights Committee, and National Standing Committees in each country of the UK.

BASW’s Constitution

BASW is run according to a set of rules, or constitution, that sets out what our objectives are and how the organisation works. This constitution is known as our Memorandum & Articles of Association and Bye-Laws – available for download here.
